Describe New Media

The ways of getting information used to be from TV, radio, or newspaper during 1980s. People go back home after work to watch their favorite shows or to listen certain radio show. However, new media such as Internet lunched in this society, everything is getting more and more flexible. Instead of going to CD shop then buy new album, they download from I-tune. Instead of paying a cable fee, they watch TV show online. (Laura M. Holson)
The biggest difference between new and old media is that new media has a huge advantage of its convenience and flexibility. On the other hand, old media such as newspaper and TV have an advantage of its credibility.  Furthermore, Internet can be confusing to some of users, because the information they are looking for is not always easy to find. Information on the Internet is numerous, if they are exactly not sure what they need, they could end up with wasting their time. (Holson).
New media cannot be fully explained without taking about online video culture. Most well known web cite is called youtube(Clive Thompson). Since it has created, debate over moral and ethical issues always get involved. There are some restrictions what users can post on this web cite. However, copyright infringement issue is still going on all the time. There is a Japanese famous manga called “one piece”. It is released once a week and all readers are looking for the release date. Couple months ago, one of the readers some how got the newest episode on hand, released on the youtube even before the manga issued. The incident raised a question about that people might have lost the respect for creators by using new media like youtube. If users totally ignore appreciation to creators and feeling of guilty, there will be no person who creates movie, TV show, and manga. Which means that we let important culture to be out of society.
